Tubbs Road Blockage

The bottom of Tubbs Road has been blocked off thus.  This has massively reduced the amount of traffic going down the road, which is an issue I have been complaining about for some time, as you can see from the entries here and here and here and here.

The road seems so much quieter, and the effect on the rest of the Town Centre does not strike me as especially severe.  Is it worth permanently pedestrianising that short stretch at the bottom?

Absolutely NOT - of course its going to be quieter if the road is closed.

I nearly thought that I could not possibly even allow myself to reply to such ludicrous comment by Cllr James Powney! Of course, if you close a road and limit its access to cars the result is that the road will become quieter, doh! But to say that this has not created a severe impact on the town centre is even more ludicrous. C'mon Mr Powney I see you walking around the area and unless you are wearing blinkers you will be able to see that the traffic along the town centre and high street has severely increased due to its closure. In fact, I had to go to Acton the other day (and I live on Leghorn Road) and had to drive all through the town centre to make my way there! Now correct me if I am wrong, but the town centre does not need me or any other driver driving through its jam packed commercially led area just so that we can reach Station Road. I would very much like to see all roads close but that is an Utopia. But otherwise please close the rat race roads of Ancona, and Leghorn Road - bet that would not create any adverse effects on neighbouring roads - and I am not being ironic here.

This blog is only useful if you actually post the responses you actually get from your entries - otherwise it will only tell one part of the story!

Cristina: Ii is excellent if you "have to drive through the town centre" ... "just so that we can reach Station Road".

That is the whole purpose of main roads that keep through-traffic off residential roads.

Whu don't you come up with a scheme to stop through-traffic on the residental roads between High Street and Wrottesley Road?
