Evictions in Brent

Shelter has published figures on evictions, which are likely to become far more common as a result of the Con Dem government's changes to housing Benefit.  They reveal that Brent is likely to be one of the areas worst affected.

Scary enough but the figs are for 'risk of eviction; rather than actual evictions. They consist of mortgage and landlord possession claims as a result of payments not being kept up.

Unemployment, frozen wages, higher food and energy costs plus the housing benefit cap are bound to worsen the situation in the new year. And the the Coalition is seeking to end legal aid for housing issues! As a result 'risk' will be more likely to become actual eviction.
