It looks as if the government is beginning a slow
retreat from its enthusiasm for community buyouts. I say this as, it has now introduced changes making nomination for "Town Green" status more difficult. The fears cited are that the legislation is just a means to impede planning permissions and imposes a costly inquiry process. This certainly was the Brent experience over the
redevelopment of Willesden Green Library Centre. The Inquiry caused a lengthy delay in time and an unneeded expenditure of public resource for no obvious purpose.
