Fryent and the BNP

I am sorry to see that the BNP are putting someone up in a Brent local election, for the first time in many years. Interestingly, although Richard Blackmore (the BNP candidate) lives on Leighton Gardens in Brondesbury, he has chosen to stand in Fryent ward, well away from his home.

I have alerted Brent Trades Union Council about this. There is also a story in the Harrow Times.

Several of us are drafting a cross-party, community organisations, religious organisations statement affirming our support for a diverse and united Brent and opposing the BNP. The aim to get as many signatures as possible.

Brent & Harrow UAF have drafted a statement to which they hope as many people as possible will put their names. We are very pleased to hear that Barry Gardiner will be joining the Fryent candidates in campaigning against the BNP. The statement reads:
Say NO to the Nazi BNP in Fryent Ward
We the undersigned are shocked to learn that the Nazi British National Party is standing a candidate in Fryent Ward for the Brent Council elections. Fryent, like the whole of Brent is an area where people from across the world, people from diverse backgrounds, people of many faiths and none work together and live together as good neighbours, where their children grow up playing together and go to school together. It is a united and harmonious community. We welcome and celebrate this unity and harmony. The British National Party seeks to destroy it. It is a party of racism, intolerance and hatred with ideas that descend directly from those of Hitler’s Nazis and Oswald Mosley’s Fascist Blackshirts. Leading members of the BNP deny the Holocaust, celebrate Hitler’s birthday with other European Fascists, say that women should not complain about rape, that “There is actually not a great deal of point in keeping these sort of people [people with disabilities] alive, after all”.
We say that there is no room for racism, hatred and division in our community and call on all the voters in Fryent Ward to use their votes on Thursday May 6th, but NOT for the Nazi BNP

Nick Griffin and his mates have been exposed on Sky TV for being the racists they are. Inspite of their pathetic attempts to gain legitimacy by constitutional change, they have once again failed to hide their true fascist and racist colours.
These modern day neo Nazis yesterday turned on Muslims, today on Black people, tomorrow on who else? Gays, trade unionists, Socialists etc etc.
Don't be fooled. Don't vote fascist.
