I see that the Kensal Triangle Association's minutes state that: "Cllr Simon Green also recommends opposing fortnightly grey bin collections". In fact when the Tories put forward a motion at Full Council in September opposing fortnightly collections, the Liberal Democrats abstained. The same minutes report Cllr Green as informing everyone that the £25 charge for collecting bulky items has been abolished without mentioning that he and his party would like to reinstate the charge.
This is very similar to the approach of his Liberal Democrat colleague Sarah Teather in supporting a £37 million cut to Council funding and then pretending to oppose the subsequent cuts in Council services.
People have got wise to the way in which Liberal Democrats say one thing to one audience and the opposite to another.

OK, so here's a interesting one
I live in Queens Park and a local group www.queenspark.co.uk has been campaigning against the proposed redevelopment of the Islamia School. The campaign group has just claimed success with a mailshot as below:

Dear All,
Please see below for an extract from the Front page of the Kilburn Times.
The school losing its money was never our end-game, we sincerely hoped that a compromise could be reached and a more suitable, sustainable solution could have been found.
During the planning committee hearing on the 15th of Dec last year the Planning Team at Brent responded to our Legal Pre-Action Letter warning them of the illegalities and inconsistencies of this application with an abrupt dismissal of all of our concerns. One of the six main concerns we raised was the question of funding. Brent took the stance that funding is not a consideration for this particular project. We found this very odd. So we issued a Freedom of Information Request to find out about the terms of the contribution by both Brent and the DfE (see below for answer to the FOI). Unsurprisingly Brent only released this to us once they had realised they finally had no other card to play other than the truth, there simply is not enough time for this School to be built according to the conditions attached to the grant.
It is a shame that the leadership of Brent has let down it constituents so badly on both sides of this issue. If only they had done their homework a little better rather than using this issue as a Political Soapbox. Sometimes those in power simply forget what public service means. Luckily we get to vote them out at the next election. The only local councillor who had the courage to stand up and be counted and speak for his constituents was Councillor Simon Green (cc'ed), he should be congratulated for his courage.
Of course we know that this result is a Pyrrhic victory, it is not an outcome we want, nobody wants a school to lose its funding. We need to ask our councillors how they can waste such an opportunity to create good and turn it into such a divisive community damaging tool.
We hope that when the Localism Bill comes into effect that we can rally for a more sustainable solution for all of the schools in Queens Park.
Thanks again for all of your support.

I'm not going to comment on the merits of the application, lots of discussion on both sides, it's a shame that a way couldn't be found to resolve this
What's interesting is that Simon Green, LD QP, was so helpful to the campaign.
In 2008 he was listed as part of Sarah Teather's constituency office team and she's been supportive of the Islamia school in the past, which has a large catchment area extending well into her constituency
Are residents in Brent Central aware that lib dem councillers were so instrumental in forcing the cancellation of an apparently much needed refurbishment of a flagship islamic school?
What's Sarah's position on this, other than complicated?
Dear Cllr Powney
KTRA welcome you going through our minutes and the speed of your comments on them, almost instantly after them going on line quite remarkable especially from someone who does not even live in our area.
We would ask you to go through a few more of our minutes of the last 4 or so months and answer the many criticisms of your Waste Policy and its consultation which will affect our area - Queens Park Ward and give comments on or October 4th Waste Consultation Resolution - which was sent to your consultation and did not get any response.

We would also like to strongly point out that Simon Green has worked tirelessly for our area in his time as a councilor and has really contributed to the betterment our area and helped put the Kensal Triangle on the map with Brent Council which before his election just wasn’t the case and we hope that Cllrs Adeyeye and Denselow will continue to add to this too.
